Training Week: May 19 – May 25

This was one of my first decent training weeks of the year. I was able to get in a fair amount of time in the pool and on the bike, though I hope to log even more hours next week. Unfortunately, my running had to be pushed back a little bit this week due to some stress in my knee. However, I’m not too worried about my running at this time of the year, as I am trying to focus more on building strength in the water and on the bike.

Here is a summary of my training week:

Swim 7800 yards (4.5 miles) 5 sessions
Bike 8.6 hours (135 miles, 5300ft gain) 4 sessions
Run 5 miles 1 session
Total 12 hours 10 sessions

(Note: NP denoted Normalized Power)


  • 1000-yard recovery swim
  • 1.4-hour cycle (18 miles, 1700ft elevation gain) at NP of 160 watts (80% of FTP)


  • 1800-yard swim
  • 2.4-hour cycle (40 miles, 2000ft elevation gain) at NP of 170 watts (85% of FTP)


  • 2200-yard swim
  • 2.1-hour cycle (33 miles, 800ft elevation gain) at NP of 138 watts (69% of FTP)


Taken off completely


  • 1800-yard swim
  • 2.7-hour cycle (44 miles, 800ft elevation gain) at NP of 145 watts (72% of FTP)
  • 5-mile run at easy pace


  • 1000-yard recovery swim
